Where to Stay
Ruby Foo’s Hotel ☆☆☆☆
7655 Decarie Blvd
I recently stayed at Ruby Foo’s during my last trip to Montreal. I spent two days shooting for Dynamite, their studio was 2 minutes away. This hotel is great if you are flying in for work. Most photoshoots are not in downtown Montreal, thus this location is perfect to easily get to and from the airport and your job.
Airbnb is by far the most affordable option. Montreal has a ton of beautiful historic lofts in Old Montreal that are available for very reasonable nightly prices. On my last trip to Montreal, I stay in a gorgeous two story loft in Old Montreal. It was so big I could even hear my voice echo.
The unit was vast and well maintained. I would definitely come back to stay at this unit.

Where to eat
Suwu – Late Night
3581 Boul. Saint-Laurent
Once we were done with dinner we headed to Suwu for some drinks and snacks. It happened to be half price bottles of wine, so we indulged and polished off a nice bottle of white wine.
The ambiance was cool, it was quite busy for a quiet Sunday night. The decor was very modern and interesting. There these gorgeous decorative planters with vines hanging from the ceiling.
1096 Blvd St-Laurent
Our first stop was for dinner at La Capitale, a street-inspired Mexican restaurant serving authentic dishes. The vibe was super chill and the food was delicious. These were the best tacos I’ve had in a while. Yum! We also tried the drinks and did some shots. totally struggled with the shots.
The prices were standard but the experience was totally worth it.
1 Saint-Paul St W
Wine bar with live music & an old-timey jazz vibe, plus an eclectic menu with lamb specialties.
994 Rue Rachel E
Rumour has it; this is the best poutine in Montreal. I had to go check out this all-night diner for Québécois grub & local microbrews. Their menu has a wide variety of poutine options & hefty breakfasts. I loved every single bite and love that this joint is 24hours. This is the perfect late night eats spot.
3895 St Laurent Blvd
The next morning between castings I stopped for lunch at the famous Schwartz’s Deli on Saint Laurent Boulevard. This is rumoured to be the oldest deli in Canada; it has been running for over 80 years!
I was super hungry and I went all out with a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and a Montreal smoked meat poutine. I decided to take-out since the location is quite cramped and dirty with a huge line. The sandwich was delicious and I really enjoyed it. I had been craving some comfort food.
This is a great stop for a quick snack. My only advice is to avoid the dine in option, just take your sandwich to go and enjoy it somewhere as lovely as the sandwich is.
Belle Province – The McDonald’s of Quebec
La Belle Province is a well-known fast food restaurant chain in the province of Quebec, Canada. They have all the classic comfort food offerings you would expect in a Quebecois fast food joint. I definitely recommend switching it up from McDonald’s and giving La Belle Province a shot!
